2016 Mazda 2 had its premiere at the 2014 Geneva Auto Show, where the new Hazumi concept was introduced. The first thing to notice on this model is exterior, the exterior of Mazda 2 is shaped thanks to the Kodo design language and the SKYACTIV technology provides superb performance. In addition, The i-ACTIVSENSE system brought a lot of safety features. The new model will run on a diesel engine, while the redesign will specifically focus on weight reduction and aerodynamics so the new 2016 Mazda 2 would be fuel efficient and with satisfying performance. It won’t be released soon, but at least, we know almost all the important aspects of this amazing small car.
2016 Mazda 2 Changes
2016 Mazda 2 looks absolutely stunning. like most Mazda cars and crossovers, Mazda 2 was designed to deliver signature sporty handling and a fun-to-drive character. The new model has fantastically redesigned headlights and taillights, followed by a big pentagonal grille and a new front bumper. The new model will also be equipped with LED fog lights. The new Mazda 2 should sit atop a longer wheelbase, with overall body length increasing by perhaps 6 inches or more. It will also be slightly taller. The new hatchback will use a 16 inch alloy wheel that add up to the impression of this being a modern and aggressive compact car. In addition, the new 2016 Mazda 2 will use a new SKYACTIV technology, that will make this car weigh less than before. for the interior, Mazda 2 should also make impressive leaps, starting with a new infotainment system controlled by a dial-button array in the center console and a dash-mounted color display. Smartphone integration and navigation will also be available through the Mazda Connect suite of apps and connected services. A longer wheelbase and increased overall length may also give the Mazda 2 more luggage space. Its current 13.3 cubic feet is average for the segment.
2016 Mazda 2 will get a new engine. Mazda hasn’t announced a U.S. engine lineup yet, but the Mazda 2 will offer some combination of the three engines offered in Europe and Japan: a 1.3-liter four-cylinder, a 1.5-liter four-cylinder and a 1.5-liter diesel four-cylinder. The smaller engine isn’t likely for American buyers, nor is the diesel, making a new Skyactiv 1.5-liter the obvious replacement for the current engine. This engine delivers 99 horsepower and 111 lb-ft of torque, and it is mated with six-speed automatic transmission. It has multi-hole system which reduces fuel use and generate more power, but also lowering emissions.
2016 Mazda 2 Release Date and Price
2016 Mazda 2 will not be revealed before next summer in the U.S., but the Europe will see it in October at the 2014 Paris Auto Show. As for the price, there are no official announcements at this point.
