2016 Mercedes-Benz MLC
The spy shots taken at several different locations have confirmed that Mercedes-Benz is currently developing its M-Class Coupe. The growing interest in the field of sports SUV coupe, made it the world’s biggest carmakers to invest a lot of effort and money into the development of these vehicles. On the market 2016 Mercedes-Benz MLC will be the main competitor BMW X6 model. Rival company reaps fantastic revenues from the sale of its SUV models. Quite logical that Mercedes wants his share of the cake. Especially the US market, where demand for SUVs is increasing day by day.
2016 Mercedes-Benz MLC Exterior and Interior
New 2016 Mercedes-Benz MLC have a lot in common with the striking Concept Coupe SUV. The 2016 MLC is likely to share the same swoopy profile with the aforementioned concept. Much of the cabin looks to be in soft touch leather, with particular attention paid to vented seating surfaces and detailed stitching on the center console. On the center tunnel we notice the same Comand infotainment touchpad controller and knob, which operates the center-mounted screen that’s integrated between two air vents. The screen still stands up from the dashboard like it does in the Mercedes-Benz C and CLA-Class. Below there appear to be button controls for the radio and climate control, to supplement the touchscreen system. On the outside, the Mercedes Benz MLC plainly resembles the BMW X6 in shape, although we expect sleeker and more luxurious styling than the X6’s sporty appearance. In this round of spy images we have a slighter better look at the front lower air intakes, but the rest of the vehicle remains camouflaged. We can also see a fair bit of aluminum and chrome-colored detailing, notably on the steering wheel’s lower spoke, around the instrument cluster, on the glove box latch, and on the passenger’s side dash panel. Overall, nothing in the interior is much of a surprise compared to the Mercedes Benz M-Class on which the MLC is based.
2016 Mercedes-Benz MLC Powertrain
2016 Mercedes-Benz MLC will likely offer a standard 3.5-liter V6 engine rated at 302 horsepower, but upgrades could include a turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 (329 hp, 354 pound-feet of torque) and a 449-hp 4.7-liter V8. The V8 option gives the Mercedes an edge on BMW’s eight-cylinder power plant, but doesn’t leave much headroom for an anticipated AMG model to follow. That high-performance model would likely use a turbocharged 4.0-liter V8 rated at 462 hp. Both engines will probably pair with a seven-speed automatic transmission. A plug-in hybrid GLE is also likely; a prototype has already been seen testing.
